چکیده
Abstract When the abundance and composition of pollinators are unpredictable, exploitation a diverse assemblage is important for plant reproduction. To examine role floral traits in attracting pollinators, we performed field study using zygomorphic flowers Isodon trichocarpus. We investigated variation among seasonal pollinator determined whether behaviour linked to traits. compared diversity by flower-based rarefaction extrapolation. Pollinator increased with span corolla opening. The number bumble bee visits upper lip height. During flowering period, there were only 2 days when all groups (wasps, bees, small bees hoverflies) observed, 4 one group was observed. Thus, degree generalization not similar because differed according some observed part season. Our results show that form attractiveness different flower associated visits. this species related

Nectar traits in Nicotiana section Alatae (Solanaceae) in relation to floral traits, pollinators, and mating system.
Nicotiana section Alatae exhibits great diversity among species in floral morphology, mating system, and predominant pollinators. As a first step towards estimating nectar's role in floral evolution, we studied nectar traits to determine whether they vary in association with predominant pollinators and mating system. Daily phenology determines when nectar becomes available to pollinators and di...
متن کاملHerbivore-Induced DNA Demethylation Changes Floral Signalling and Attractiveness to Pollinators in Brassica rapa
Plants have to fine-tune their signals to optimise the trade-off between herbivore deterrence and pollinator attraction. An important mechanism in mediating plant-insect interactions is the regulation of gene expression via DNA methylation. However, the effect of herbivore-induced DNA methylation changes on pollinator-relevant plant signalling has not been systematically investigated. Here, we ...
متن کاملThe role of pollinators in floral diversification in a clade of generalist flowers.
Pollinator-mediated evolutionary divergence has seldom been explored in generalist clades because it is assumed that pollinators in those clades exert weak and conflicting selection. We investigate whether pollinators shape floral diversification in a pollination generalist plant genus, Erysimum. Species from this genus have flowers that appeal to broad assemblages of pollinators. Nevertheless,...
متن کاملDivergent genetic mechanisms underlie reversals to radial floral symmetry from diverse zygomorphic flowered ancestors
Malpighiaceae possess flowers with a unique bilateral symmetry (zygomorphy), which is a hypothesized adaptation associated with specialization on neotropical oil bee pollinators. Gene expression of two representatives of the CYC2 lineage of floral symmetry TCP genes, CYC2A and CYC2B, demarcate the adaxial (dorsal) region of the flower in the characteristic zygomorphic flowers of most Malpighiac...
